At the age of 5 years old, Yang Bang (surname: Yang, given name: Bang) began his performing career by taking acting lessons at the famous “Dock Street Theater” located in Charleston, South Carolina, USA. As a child actor, he appeared in numerous TV commercials and he became a Mickey Mouse Mouseketeer on the CBS Television Network station WCSC also located in Charleston, South Carolina, USA. At age 12 Bang learned how to play his first guitar and at age 14 Bang began to write the words and music to his first original conceived songs.
At age 16 Bang joined up with a band known as "Winstone" and he bought an old VW "hippie" Bus to carry the band's guitars, amplifiers and drums to its gigs. At age 17 during his senior year at Carrabelle High School, Carrabelle, Florida USA, he joined the choir of The First Baptist Church of Carrabelle as their guitar player. Ages 18 - 23 Bang attended The University of West Georgia in Carrollton, Georgia USA. During college he worked as a Rock-n-Roll disk jockey known as "Wild Bill" on radio station WBTR. He also managed a movie theater at the same time to work his way through college… and to have lots of ~fun~ at the same time!
At age 23 Yang Bang graduated from college and moved back to Charleston, South Carolina USA. His first job after college was writing and producing radio advertising commercials and selling commercial air time for WCSC radio station in Charleston, South Carolina USA. He then got a job writing, directing and producing radio and TV commercials at an Advertising Agency. At the same time he got another job working as a disk jockey spinning dance records at a popular Charleston night club. While working there he met many famous recording stars and singers.
Yang Bang traveled to Nashville, Tennessee USA to learn about writing folk songs and story telling music. While there he met Jeff Cook, the lead guitar player of the band "Alabama" and he also met the well known singer Crystal Gayle. A newspaper known as "The Moultrie News" published a front page story about his song writing activities and his meeting with these two music legends. Yang Bang also wrote, directed and starred in his own TV show on the Fox TV Network station WTAT located in Charleston, South Carolina, USA.
In 2003 while surfing the web, Bang met a beautiful lady living in China named Yang Lin. After seeing each other on their webcams and chatting together for over one and a half years, Bang flew to meet her in person at the beautiful island country of Singapore. It was love at first site and their first date lasted for ten days. In fact, on day four from their first face to face meeting and first date, Yang Bang proposed and became engaged to marry Yang Lin.
The month after they met in Singapore, Bang left the USA and moved to China to be with his true love Yang Lin. With Yang Lin now his business partner and life partner, Yang Bang has become a successful business owner and musician living, working and playing his music in China.
Bang has a lovely and talented daughter named Hannah that is now 3 years old. She is also quite interested in music. Hannah sings and dances, bangs her drums, plays (bangs) her own guitar, and her latest musical instrument that she loves to ~bang~ is her Piano.
Yang Bang is now recording his debut CD album titled “Love Songs: Made in China.” These songs that are all written and sung by Yang Bang tell stories of love and passion and were inspired by the loving and passionate people of China.
